2 year anniversary 2-11-2011

Feb 11th, we reached the 2 year mark! Yay! feels so weird to say that though because it seems like nothing! We have known each other for so long that I feel like it should have been our 7 year anniversary....but really. We went snowshoeing and out to lunch and then ate our anniversary dinner at home this year, Braydon made us dinner and fondue! It was sooo yummy! Love you Babe!

My Wonderful Grandpa

A few mondays ago we were at the store when I got a call from my dad that my grandpa had passed away that day :/ Of course I immediately started bawling. I will miss him. My Dad and family will miss him. My sweet Grandma will miss him. He was such a light in all of our lives. A man with a testimony that was unmovable, A man who lived by example, one that never strayed from what he knew was right. A man who honored his family and adored his wife. One who always lived worthy of the spirit and fulfilled all callings he was given above and beyond any expectations. He loved to serve and was always looking for opportunities to do so. He was funny and he always made me laugh. He was humble, smart, hardworking, witty, kind, understanding, honest, lovable and SO much more! And the best part of all of this is, HE STILL IS. I know that my grandpa is still living, but in a much happier place. He doesn't have to deal with his earthy body any more and the temptations and fears and worries that plague this earth. He is home. He is reuniting with loved ones. Most importantly I know he has not forgotten about us. Especially my grandma :) He did not and will not ever leave her alone. He loves her SO much and I have known that all of my life. Their marriage is something that I can only dream of having one like. It was a special day to honor the life of such a great man & I feel extremely lucky to call him my Grandpa! I love you!
My Grandma had the wonderful idea to build a Memorial Garden for my Grandpa :) It turned out so cute, and I know my grandpa loves it.

Georgia Tech Invitational

Today is (most likely) my last track meet!:/ Unless we qualify for regionals in the 4x4 which we MIGHT!:) I have been beyond grateful to run track for BYU. I often look back and wonder how it all happened and how the heck I even made the team, & how has this year gone by so quickly?!?! It has definitely been one of my favorite semesters in college thus far. I run the 400 at 2:50 today... I am both excited and so nervous! The main reason I am nervous is not for any competition but just the fact that for myself I want to do the best that I can. & its freaking hard to push your body to the max the whole time your running a 400 and it hurts but its all worth it when you cross the finish and you have yourself a new PR. its seriously the best feeling! All of your hard work is paying off.. and thats how I want to feel today. We run the 4x4 at 5:50. If we all run our best we have a chance at qualifying for regionals meaning my track career isnt over! haha I would have 2 more weeks... so I HOPE WE DO GOOD!!! But in the end, however today goes I am just going to try to enjoy it because what an amazing opportunity I have to compete in track again and with such a great team! I love the team I am a part of and my amazing coaches that push me every day! I know that these are some amazing memories that I will never forget! :) *lots of track pictures and past updates on track to come!*

New York New York!

What a fun trip we got to go on last week! We left on wednesday and came home sunday night for a track meet in New York! We got to stay a block away from times square and had such a fun time exploring the city a little bit! :)Steve & Angie were able to fly down as well which made it even more fun!
We got to go see the 9/11 memorial which was really cool! & interesting, I cant imagine what it was like to be in New York at that time. It was really interesting to be at the exact spot where the buildings used to stand... and it made me feel so bad for those people that were trapped in the buildings and the brave firemen and police that risked their lives and gave their lives to help.
we also found the famous LOVE statue which was right across from our hotel :)
The track we ran at was really nice and it was a lot of fun to be able to run at the New Balance Track. I ran the 500 m dash for the first time and the 4x4 and Braydon pole vaulted. It was fun to watch all of the athletes compete because there were sooo many schools and so many amazing athletes there, it was cool!
& of course we went to times square, ate lots of yummy food, rode the stinky subways, walked out to the water to see the statue of liberty, went to church which was at the New York Temple, bought a $16 reeses, and saw central park!
We are SO grateful for the chance we had to go to NEW YORK! Thank you BYU track team. We had so much fun!:)

Track

well things have been pretty busy around here with school & track now in full swing! I wish I would have documented more of my "track journey" because it is kind of funny to look back on now but I am going to just give you the run down now. :) So backing up to last year about this time, we were having fun going to all of Braydons track meets and watching him vault. I couldn't help but notice (and either could braydon and my dad) the women's 400, which was the event I ran in high school. My dad would say, "You really should try out!" and I would say..."Ha, I wish." Lets be real I had been graduated from high school for Forever (4 years) and even if I really wanted to I really doubted I could get back into shape and run even faster than I had before. Anyways later that summer after the track season had ended Braydon mentioned a few times that he really thought I should just TRY to get back in sprinting shape and just SEE how fast I could run and if it was decent I should try out. Ill be honest the idea did get me a little excited but I hated it at the same time. I knew if I tried out, and I possible did make the team that I would be the worst one. & that didn't sound fun. But my curiosity got the best of me and I figured, Hey if i do make it I can always quit... but that would just be cool to say I made the team:). So we went to the track in the mornings before work in the 95' weather and ran. I felt so uncoordinated at first and SLOW! My muscles were just not as quick to respond as I remembered in high school. Braydon taught me some drills and techniques to get me back to where I needed to be and I did them every day for about 2 months. It was fun to be on the track again and I could feel it getting easier...
Well try outs were September 10th which came super fast! It was scary at first being the new girl and the girl who was trying out. They all had their BYU issued clothing on and I was wearing mismatched t shirts and shorts. I just tried my best and what really saved me was the 50 second drill. The first day we had to run around the track as far as we could in 50 seconds. It was hard. But I ended up getting one of the furthest marks (it was a miracle!). Now It is Jan and our Season is in full swing! :) it has been such a blessing to be able to be on the Track team at BYU and an experience that I know I will always be grateful for! So far we have been to Boise and Albuquerque for meets and there has been family at both of them supporting us! We are so lucky to have such awesome family :) This week I am going to Seattle and Braydon is off to Colorado. pictures to come soon.... :)
